ADMA TranS4MErs is a 5.6 million EURO project funded by the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework Program of the European Union, based on the work of ADMA, the European Support Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The project was officially launched on October 1, 2021. The project will run for a period of 3 years and will be implemented by a consortium of 38 partners from the 27 member states of the European Union.
Coordinated by Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR), ADMA TranS4MErs brings together pan-European cooperation with several partners, including research and technology organisations, universities, industry associations, chambers of commerce, incubators/accelerators, regional development agencies and vocational training institutes .
ADMA TranS4MErs will build and deliver digital skills support (supported by core technologies such as: high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and cyber security) and advanced digital skills training in SMEs.
The ADMA TranS4MErs project will strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturing SMEs by providing fast, flexible and pan-European access to advanced manufacturing consultancy and expertise, as well as training, drawing on the expertise of consortium partners from all EU-27 Member States .
A project that aims to support the transformation of more than 1,000 SMEs into "Factories of the Future" to take on Europe's ecological, digital and societal challenges by 2025.
To achieve this goal, an infrastructure, the super-network of knowledge, will be consolidated, acting as a backbone of the project. Core elements such as refining the SME transformation methodology, pilot website and success stories from ADMA will be complemented by several new additions including:
• a working team of TranS4MErs, experts in advising SMEs, connected to SMEs through an application, will be mobilized;
• a Catalog of Services/Tools that aims to help SMEs choose the most suitable transformation journey for their business;
• The TranS4Mers quality mark ensures the possession of high-quality experts in advising SMEs and implementing significant digitization projects;
• the 70 xChange events taking place in EU member states using the most advanced physical and virtual tools;
• The TranS4MErs Digital Platform/Toolkit will act as a collaborative space for SMEs, large enterprises and business support organizations, providing access to workshops to develop technical expertise in SMEs, remote advisory services on financial and legal aspects, virtual trainings and webinars; remote ad hoc support, services and tools of the innovation ecosystem;
• TranS4MErs education and training framework(s) related to advanced manufacturing, including a pathway for further expansion under the European Social Fund.
In addition, the project will launch two funding calls addressing the needs of manufacturing industry SMEs in Europe, depending on their digital maturity. In each call the selected SMEs will go through a 2-stage scheme.
1. In the first stage (Design), SMEs will be guided to develop their Transformation Plans, having access to the TranS4MErs platform, as well as a series of trainings and resources to improve their knowledge and team skills;
2. In the second stage (Renovation), TranS4MErs experts will provide SMEs with the expertise and resources to implement the transformation plan by adapting production facilities to become the factories of the future.
