The municipality of Satu Mare implements through the Regional Operational Program 2014-2020 the projects "Development of public transport infrastructure in the municipality of Satu Mare" and "Increasing the efficiency of public urban passenger transport by purchasing hybrid buses and ensuring the support infrastructure".
The two projects correspond to Priority Axis 4 – Supporting sustainable urban development, Investment Priority 4.1 – Promoting strategies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions for all types of territory, in particular urban areas, including the promotion of sustainable urban mobility plans and measures relevant for mitigating adaptations.
The total cumulative value of the two projects is 50,880,049.73 lei, and the cumulative non-refundable value from the European Regional Development Fund of the projects is 37,864,962.92 lei.
Completion of the project "Development of public transport infrastructure in the municipality of Satu Mare" is scheduled for December 31, 2021, and the project "Increasing the efficiency of public urban passenger transport by purchasing hybrid buses and ensuring the support infrastructure" is scheduled for September 30, 2022.
These projects consist in the creation of investments based on urban mobility plans aimed at increasing the attractiveness and competitiveness of public transport, at the same time contributing to the reduction of atmospheric and noise pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption at the level of the municipality of Satu Mare .
In order to reduce carbon emissions in the Municipality of Satu Mare, these two projects provide for the construction and arrangement of a trans-county-translocal terminal, the construction of a depot for buses, the purchase of 11 hybrid buses and the location of a fast charging station for buses.
