In order to estimate the economic value of data sharing, the European Commission elaborates study on the data exchange of European companies. The study will attempt to quantify the data that is shared (and not shared) between independent companies in Europe (that are not direct competitors), along with the lost business opportunities that result from not sharing data. The ultimate aim of the study is to estimate the economic value and potential of data exchange in business-to-business relationships, as well as obstacles and success factors in this regard.
As part of the research in this sense, a sounding for the collection of information and data from companies in Europe (ie the 28 EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). The survey will be open until 15/11/2017.
Ensuring a high response rate from a wide range of companies in different countries is essential for the European Commission to be able to draw reliable evidence-based conclusions.
